Americans are financing terrorists. And other people are dying for it -- by the millions.
In 2008, in my post "
Imminent Threat," I maintained that our scandalous energy policy was putting our nation in jeopardy. Unfortunately, things haven't gotten any better. From
South America to
Iran and beyond, threats against America are mounting.
However, our lousy energy policy isn't affecting only us. Our foreign oil dependence is helping to fund a brutal regime that has killed, tortured, and destroyed 2 million people and counting. Southern Sudanese are being brutalized for their natural resources -- oil, that is -- by Arab militias.
In
The American, former ambassador to the U.N. Richard Williamson outlines the continued horror faced by the Southern Sudanese and offers some corrective actions for our government to take. But I think he ignores the one solution that would hurt the terrorists the most: Stop financing them by developing our own resources.
Our country is rich in natural resources, people included. Let's start using what we have in abundance and stopping paying terrorists to terrorize.
God, forgive us for burying our talents and resources. Forgive us for aiding and abetting people who are on a mission to pillage and plunder.
