David Brooks strikes again with a very thoughtful
column on evolution and human altruism.
Brooks is a hearty proponent of evolution, but at least he and other evolutionists are finally beginning to seek explanations for the things that make us humans truly different from other animals.
The things that do make us different—altruism, love, compassion—bear the stamp of the divine. And who knows, maybe evolutionary science is finally catching up with an ancient truth from the first book of the Bible: “God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them.”

Mr. Colson reaches for a book that can be purchased for less than $5.00 (or read online for free), flips to Page One, and has the answer in an instant.
Anything more I would say would not be, um,... altruistic toward Mr. Brooks.
