The pro-life cause originally was solely concerned with abortion and protecting the lives of the unborn. But with the growing power of technology and options in healtchare, choices we never anticipated have begun confronting us. During this week's interview, John Stonestreet and guests Dr. John Kilner and Scott Rae discuss the ethical and moral dimensions of "pro-life 2.0" and beyond.

Technological advancement has come quickly and furiously. But our society's moral understanding has also taken a nosedive. How can Christians both embrace technology, and hold on to God's timeless principles?

"For over three decades now," says John Stonestreet, the Church has been highly engaged in the issue of abortion. But...the growth of our technology has outpaced our ethics to the point that we've got to know what's going on not only with beginning-of-life issues such as abortion, but also end-of-life issues, middle-of-life-issues, and really everything in between."

In short, the world is evolving. And in order to remain true to its mission and relevant to society, the pro-life movement needs to evolve into something more (not less) than a defense of the unborn.

Why? Because the future is here: Embryo harvesting, advanced fertility treatments, international markets for body parts and surrogacy, as well as the "science fiction stuff," like human cloning, genetic engineering and transhumanism, are all challenging what it means to value human rights and dignity.

To make sense of this strange, new world, we welcome guests Dr. John F. Kilner, who serves as Franklin Forman Chair of Ethics and Professor of Bioethics and Contemporary Culture and the Director of the Bioethics Program at Trinity International University, as well as Scott Rae, who is Chair of Philosophy of Religion and Ethics and  Professor of Philosophy of Religion and Ethics at Biola University, and also a fellow of Chuck Colson's Wilberforce Forum.

These two vanguards of the bioethics field delve deeply into what they call the "scary" challenges on the horizon for Christian conscience and society at large. Human life, they say, is being wielded and manipulated in ways unimaginable just a few years ago. This science and technology is neither good nor evil in itself. In fact, it has virtually limitless potential for both. But the Church, which has always served as society's conscience when new technology appears, is woefully behind the times on these critical issues.

"Welcome to 'pro-life 2.0' and beyond," says Scott Rae. The world is looking to us for answers. No matter who you are, if you claim the title "Christian," it's time to prepare. The lives of humans created in the image of God will depend on it.
